ZTE Selected by DiGi to Deploy Unified Mobile Network in Malaysia

DiGi Communications announced on April 28, 2011 that the company decides to select ZTE to set up a unified mobile network in Malaysia, according to a press release by ZTE. It is reported that DiGi will upgrade its network with ZTE's unified RAN (Radio Access Network) platform that is able to provide 2G, 3G, and LTE (Long Term Evolution) functionality, and ZTE will also deliver managed services to maintain the unified network. The partnership also includes upgrade on DiGi's core network, transmission network, and partially value-added services platform. It is estimated that the entire project will take approximately two years to complete starting from the third quarter of 2011 and involve more than 5,000 sites.
